For the past few years, we’ve been told that artificial intelligence would revolutionize creativity. We were promised tools that would save time, reduce repetitive work, and allow anyone to create professional quality content with just a few prompts. Every few months, another AI video model is announced with impressive demonstrations and bold marketing claims. Whether it’s Google Veo 3, Seedance, kling or many other AI video generators inside Higgsfield AI and Runway AI ( all useless ai video tools in one place), the message is always the same: this is the future of filmmaking.

Then you sit down and try to create something real.

The experience can be incredibly frustrating.

You spend hours writing detailed prompts. You regenerate scenes over and over again. The AI ignores instructions, changes characters halfway through a sequence, invents objects that weren’t requested, or completely misunderstands the scene you carefully described. One generation looks promising, the next one falls apart, and another introduces entirely new problems.

Instead of feeling like you’re directing a film, it often feels like you’re negotiating with software that has a mind of its own.

For me, that isn’t a mature creative tool. It feels like an unfinished product that’s already being sold as if it’s ready for professional use.

What makes this even more frustrating is the gap between marketing and reality.

Open YouTube, and you’ll find creators showcasing spectacular AI videos. Browse social media, and you’ll see advertisements promising cinematic results in minutes. Product launch videos make it seem as though AI can replace traditional production workflows overnight.

But those polished demonstrations rarely show the hundreds of failed generations, the constant prompt rewriting, or the hours spent trying to get a consistent result. They show the highlight reel, not the reality that many everyday users experience.

I’m not saying AI can’t produce impressive results. It absolutely can.

The problem is consistency.

A creative tool shouldn’t occasionally produce something amazing after fifty attempts. Not to mention that you spend hunders of credits to generate an under one minute consistent, quality and watchable video. It should reliably follow instructions, preserve character consistency, respect camera movements, and understand detailed prompts. Those are basic expectations for anyone trying to produce serious content.

What disappoints me most is that the industry appears more interested in releasing the next version than perfecting the current one.

Every few months, another announcement arrives with new features, bigger models, and more ambitious promises. Yet many of the same practical problems remain. Users continue reporting inconsistent outputs, prompt failures, and workflows that require countless retries.

Sometimes it feels as though companies are competing to release products before they’re truly ready because they don’t want to fall behind their competitors.

That may make sense from a business perspective.

It doesn’t always make sense from the user’s perspective.

This situation reminds me of the SEO software industry around 2015.

Back then, countless SEO tools promised to automate tasks like bookmarking, directory submissions, and link building. The marketing made everything sound effortless. But anyone who actually worked in SEO during that period remembers how unreliable many of those tools were. Automation frequently broke, campaigns failed, and users often spent more time fixing problems than benefiting from the software itself.

Today’s AI video industry gives me a similar feeling.

The promise is extraordinary.

The execution still has a long way to go.

Some people argue that AI video generation is an incredibly difficult scientific challenge, and that’s probably true. These systems are solving problems that were considered impossible only a few years ago. They have advanced at an astonishing pace.

But users aren’t judging research papers.

They’re judging products.

If a tool is sold through subscriptions and marketed as a solution for creators, then creators naturally expect it to work reliably. They aren’t interested in benchmark scores or technical demonstrations. They simply want software that helps them finish projects faster than they could without it.

That’s the promise AI was built on Save time. Reduce effort. Increase productivity.

When creating less than one minute of usable footage consumes an entire day, it’s reasonable for users to question whether the technology is delivering on that promise.

I also believe the AI industry should spend more time listening to everyday users rather than celebrating every new model release. Most creators aren’t asking for impossible features. They’re asking for software that consistently follows prompts, maintains continuity, and produces dependable results.

Reliability is more valuable than another flashy demo.

Consistency is more valuable than another marketing campaign.

Trust is more valuable than another version number.

AI has the potential to transform creative industries in ways we’ve never seen before. I don’t doubt that for a second. The progress over the last few years has been remarkable, and many of these tools are genuinely impressive in the right circumstances.

But potential alone isn’t enough.

Creators need dependable tools, not just exciting announcements. They need products that reduce frustration instead of adding to it. They need software that feels finished instead of experimental.

The AI industry has achieved something extraordinary by making video generation possible. The next challenge is making it reliable enough that ordinary creators can depend on it every single day.

When that happens, the excitement surrounding AI will be fully deserved.

Until then, many creators including me will continue wondering why technology that promises to save time often ends up consuming so much of it.
