GHOSTWARE STORY IN A NUTSHELL

Ghostware is based on my invention and novel “The Afternoon When She Died” which sold 30000 copies online and in bookstores back in 2014. In this contemporary futuristic tale of good versus evil in form of A.I domination, a young female scientist will set out on an adventure to discover an A.I machine that is not what it seems. Ghostware seeks to create a new Sci-fi Horror full of adventure, romance, fantasy, and fantastical creatures. In the center of the story is an A.I machines known as Ghostware that can connect with spirits of those recently deceased and bring them back on Earth if the spirit crosses over the other side. Operating the machine is Dr. Hansen who has alternative motives of using the machine. Unknowingly, he has brought back the ghost of Tor, a recently murdered engineer who created Ghostware. Caught in the middle is a young scientist, Maya, running away from her own dark past who works on Ghostware and falls in love with Tor, not first knowing he’s a ghost. As the ghosts brought back by Dr. Hansen start a killing-spree, Tor convinces Maya to destroy Ghostware even when it means wiping out the man she loves.

The Journey

Ghostware was created by Maria Johnsen based on her best selling novel “The Afternoon When She Died”  which sold 30000 copies worldwide in 2014. Her readers asked her to make a movie of this novel and this is how Ghostware got created.

A GROWING NEED!

We believe the heart and soul of a great sci-fi horror feature is one that focuses on characters, and story. Then teases you into thinking about what it could be, and brings you along slowly until the fear and tension are at its peak to finally show its hand. A terrifying drama, in other words. That’s where “Ghostware” comes in.

Why Sci-fi Horror?

It is an expressive genre that bridges many metaphors and lessons in life. Now with the continued financial success of horror films in the market, we felt this is the perfect time for this offering.

Is Ghostware marketable? Yes. Most people think that only movies with popular cast and crew sell. The truth is, even the low budget films pave their way into the market if they prove to be quality and good enough to please the audience.

Who are the audience?

Primary: Educational Categories, Horror movie lovers, Book lovers, Distributors, Film festivals, Sales agents, Ultimate consumer, Exhibitors/Broadcasters, Frequent Moviegoers, ages between 15 to 60 years old

Secondary: This one cannot be identified demographically such as social class, age and interest,

Horror movies do well in the market more than other genres. One doesn’t get the main reason why people love to get frightened but there must be an innate reason behind the whole thing.

Competition

We believe our ace in the hole is a good ole’ fashioned scary sci-fi horror film. That’s predicated on using practical effects wherever possible.  Sadly, that’s rarely done anymore! That’s why our talented Special FX team will create a custom suit and mask on an actor, which will allow that person to “become” the creature and interact in a real sense with the other victims, er…I mean cast, creating a little bit of old-school creature work shopping.Combine that with an engaging story and we believe this attention to detail and craftsmanship sets us apart from the competition.

WE BELIEVE GHOSTWARE IS COMMERCIALLY VIABLE HERE IS WHY!

One reason for this is the budgets for horror films tend to be much smaller versus other types of films. It won’t capture the giant headlines of the latest Marvel movie, but it doesn’t have to. A typical studio movie will have a 200 million dollar budget with at least that much on top for marketing costs.  It would need 400 million just to break even! With “Ghostware”, however, its performance level can be much lower while still returning a higher percentage to us and our investors.

Another reason is horror fans have a real appetite for independent horror films. They are driven to these type of films constantly. Movies like “Blair Witch”, “Paranormal Activity”,”The Babadook”,or “It Follows” were produced outside the studio system, but because of horror fans seeking out these lower budget films, they were able to get a mass release for maximum dollars.  Thirdly we have the best cast and crew who have  great looks, experience and social presence. We plan to do amazing things in post production that audience will love. We plan a unique film marketing approach online and offline which will help with exposure.
